A contranstive study of Hindi-English Phonology is a pioneering work. Despite the appearance of several scholarly contributions by Indians in the field of linguistics as such, no attempt has todate been made in the specific area of Hindi-English Phonology. This study is aimed at helping the teaching of English to Hindi speaking students but this can be equally useful in the teaching of Hindi to English speaking students. The present study covers the segmental and the supraseg-mental phonemes i.e., vowels, consonants, syllablic structures, stress, rhythm, in-tonation and juncture of both the languages.
