The All-Attractive Lord Krishna appeared on the earth in Dwapar Yuga as an ordinary man and performed many transcendental pastimes with His beloved devotees. Since He is the source of all pleasure, whoever associated with Krishna experienced the highest form of pleasure. His sweet Vrindavan pastimes are always very pleasing to hear and read. All the inhabitants of Vrindavan loved Krishna with all their heart and soul, as a result, they always remained blissful.
Painted with vivid colors, Lord Krishna is here portrayed as standing tall placing His right hand on His curvaceous waist. His body complexion is like the color of the fresh monsoon clouds. He is attired in a pitambar (bright yellow) dhoti down to His ankles and is surrounded by many gopis (cowherd girls) of Vrindavan. They are considered to be great devotees of Lord Krishna who always remained absorbed in His thoughts. To serve Krishna was their only means of happiness. This tells us how elevated their consciousness was. Here, the beautiful gopis can be seen decorating their sweet Lord; one of them puts a peacock feather on His head, one adorns Him with a thick waistband, one puts anklets on His ankles, one sets His bangles, while one of them just glances Him with her eyes filled with immense affection. All of their eyes are intoxicated with pure devotion and love toward Krishna. Krishna, who is only thirsty for the love of His devotees brings a smile on His moonlike face. Whoever sees this sees not just a painting but a festival because wherever there is Krishna and His devotees, there is nothing but pure bliss.
