About the Author:
S.C.MALIK (b.1932) has a Master's degree in Anthropology form the University of Delhi, a Post-graduate Diploma in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, University of London, and a Ph.D. In Palaeo-anthropology from the M.S. Univrsity of Baroda. He was associated with the M.S. University of Baroda from 1965 until 1970 and a Fulbright-Smith-Mundt scholar at the University of Chicago for two years. He is a Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla since 1970. He has contributed a number of research papers to learned journals. His publications include: Stone Age Industries of the Bombay and Satara Districts, Understanding Indian Civilization: a Framework of Enquiry, Indian civilization-the First Phase (ed.), dissent, Protest and Reform movements in Indian Civilization (ed.), Indian Movements: Aspects of Dissent, Protest and Reform (ed.),Determinants of Social Status in India (ed.).
