About the Author:

Jyotindra Jain, until recently Director of Crafts Museum, New Delhi, is Professor at the School of Arts et Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. A former Alexander-von-Humboldt Fellow, a Homi Bhabha Fellow, and Visiting Professor at the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University, he is the author of: Kalighat Painting: Images from a Changing World; Ganga Devi: Tradition and Expression in Mithila Painting; and Other Masters: Five Contemporary Folk and Tribal Artists of India, Prof. Jain is a recipient of Prince Claus Award for his contribution in the field of art history and cultural studies.
