About the Author:

Dr. SP. Annamalai is the Post-Graduate Professor of Tamil, Thiagarajar College, Madurai.

Born in Devakottai (Tamil Nadu) in 1929, he received his higher education in the Pachaiyappa's College, Madras, and stood first in the University in the B.O.L. (Hons.) Examination (1952).

In 1968 he visited Malaysia and Singapore on the invitation of The Federation of Tamils to give special lectures on Tamil Cultures and Literature.

He has participated in Seminars held on Saint Ramalingar at Vadalur at the time of Jyothi Dardhan, celebrated yearly in the month of January. Invited by the Annamalai University, he gave three extension lectures on the subject in the year 1970.

As Secretary, Ramalinga Mission, Madurai Branch, he is doing useful service for the spread of the Samarasa Sanmargam (Universal Religion) propagated by Saint Ramalingar.

This book is the outcome of his Thesis for the Ph.D. degree submitted to the University of Madras in 1967. An earnest student of Saivism and other religions, he has contributed many an article in Tamil to various magazines and periodicals.
