Book Description
Preface

Sri Rama, Sri Krishna and Sri Ramakrishna are Gods since they embody dharma. And dharma is but love or Prema-unselfish, spontaneous and abundant. The three gods are but the manifestations of the Formless and Nameless, Birthless and Deathless, Satya and Dharma. All the three are Ramas capable of showering the highest benediction, including eternal enlightenment and infinite bliss. The first Ramas sojourn on earth was in the Treta age, as Ram Raghav. The second Rama sported on the banks of the Yamuna for the bliss of all as Ramanuja Krishna in the Dwapara age. And, in the present age Kali, the third Rama stayed serenely on the shores of the Ganges granting peace, prosperity and bliss to all as Sri Ramakrishna. All few (fourty-four) parallels have been presented as a humble offering at the altar of divinity in this book 'Rama and Krishna as Ramakrishna'.

Publisher's Note

'Whenever righteousness declines and unrighteousness prevails, I project myself. For the protection of virtuous, the destruction of the wicked, and to secure establishment of righteousness, I am born in every age,' declares Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita about the advent of an incarnation. God has incarnated in several forms during various times and Srimad Bhagavatam mentions twenty-four such incarnations to be important ones. Among these incarnations Sri Rama, Sri Krishna and more recently Sri Ramakrishna are the popular ones.

This book is conceptualized based on the Sri Ramakrishna's statement to Narendra, 'He who was Rama and Krishna is now, in this body, Ramakrishna - but not in your Vedantic sense' and the uniformity of divine qualities exhibited by the incarnations, being aspects of the God, such as auspicious (sri), unfading fame (kirti), boundless strength (virya), infinite wealth (Iswarya), knowledge (jnana), freedom due to dispassion (vairagya) etc. to mention a few, during their earthly advent. It throws light on how Sri Ramakrishna exhibited the divine qualities that are strikingly similar to His earlier avatar of Rama and Krishna, under seemingly different situations. The author has also highlighted some of the challenges encountered by an individual and society at large in the present day life and suggested possible solutions through appropriate examples from the life of these god-men.

The author Dr. K. Subrahrnanyam, also known as Siddhanta Tulasi, is currently Pro. V.C. of SVYASA, Bangalore and a former principal of Vivekananda Gurukul College, Madurai. He has authored several books in English, Tamil and Telugu on subjects that include Swami Vivekananda, Bhagavad Gita, stories from epics, devotional, spiritual etc. An architect of value education, he has written three books on the subject. A thinker and researcher, more than 200 of his articles are published in magazines like Vedanta Kesari and Triveni. A good speaker he gives inspirational talks to youth on topics related to human values and to general public on spiritual life through Antar-yogams.

We are thankful to the artist (late) Sri Purushottam Karanth who has drawn pictures for the incidents which beautifies the book giving it the visual impact of the reader and to M/ s. Value Labs, Hyderabad for sponsoring this publication. We would feel happy if the devotees make use of this opportunity and enhance their knowledge about the incarnations.
