Description

Author’s Note

Hanuman is a famous epic character. While practically every person in India is familiar with the Ramayana and its characters, they are not so well known in many other parts of the world. Twenty-eight years ago, in a far-off place called New Zealand, a friend gave me a copy of the Ramayana. This small event sparked a life-long interest and love for the great classics of India. It was in fact one of the main reasons that I started my own publishing house, Torchlight Publishing, in California over ten years ago. I have always felt that India’s great classics, Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad-Gita, deserved more recognition in the West.

Having visited India frequently in the lat twenty-five years, I have found that children here are rapidly losing awareness and understanding of their great cultural heritage. I find this sad, and this book is part of my small attempt to revive the interest of India’s youth in their culture, particularly in the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

This book was written and illustrated by Westerners, and we ask your forgiveness for any disrespect that may be implied in our often humorous representation of Hanuman and his associates. We realize he is venerated and worshipped, but at the same time, we feel he would not be unhappy if this presentation of his adventures brings joy to the hearts of children.

Back of the Book

Journey into the midst of the most exciting scenes from India’s immortal tale of adventure, love, and wisdom - the Ramayana. Once you’re there try to find Hanuman and his friends.

That’s when the hours of fun start.
Each beautifully illustrated, over-sized adventure is packed tight with humorous characters and sub-scenes. It’s easy to get distracted by all the crazy things going on.

Each puzzle scene, from Sita’s Wedding to Demons in the Forest, to Attacking Lanka is sure to boggle your mind and eyes, and tickle your funny bone.

This is absolutely the most exciting and engaging way for children to learn about the adventures of Hanuman and Lord Rama!

What are you waiting for? Bring Hanuman home!
