The whole eroticism of the composition lies summarized in the eyes of Krishna, as he visually caresses her and devours her physical beauty. His flute lies tucked in his dhoti. It is interesting to observe that Krishna's flute itself is said to have phallic connotations, but here it lies sheathed, unlike the charms of Radha which are about to be unraveled in completion.
All of the artwork is densely packed with detail, which includes the floor pattern, reminiscent of Mughal floral carpets, and the basket next to the bed which holds the garments which once granted modesty to the upper part of Radha's anatomy but which she has now taken off. This meticulous handling of details extends to the houses and cows visible in the background. The indications of night are evidenced through the candle, ewer, and the wash-basin.
