In the middle of the painting stands the replica of the famous temple at Puri in Orissa. In this are the pictures of the divine 'Triad' i.e. Sri Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. Lord Vishnu and Brahma also find place in the lower section of the temple. Sri Jagannath is believed to be Vishnu of Vaikuntha and the ten incarnations are part of him. These avataras find a prominent place in this painting as the 'Matsya' to 'Vamana' avatars on the top and rest of the five avatars comprising the lowest row.
The painting is clearly divided into sections. Each segment has related images. Turmeric yellow and brick red pigment is liberally used; bold black outlines enclose the colour and form of each figure. Pure colours combined with the popular theme are bound by unflinching draughtsmanship.
