This gem is particularly treasured for its varied color range from colorless to yellow, orange, raspberry red, green, blue, gray, brown and black. Tourmaline exhibits its brilliant luster best when faceted by hand rather than machine-cut. For stones that have inclusions that make them opaque a round, oval or cabochon cut is suited.

Indicolite (above) is a deep indigo-blue variety of tourmaline with a green undertone.

Rebullite (right) is a deep pink to red, a bit similar to ruby.
