Mahaganapati or the great Ganapati is enchantingly evoked in this artwork, inspired by his Dhyana-mantra or meditation hymn, which describes the elephant-faced deity glowing with a red hue, ten-armed, accompanied by his consort or Shakti who sits in his lap, embracing the divine Ganesha. According to Hindu traditions, the mighty weapons in the hands of Ganesha are all gifts from gods and goddesses- the trident of Shiva, discus of Vishnu, lotus from Sri Lakshmi, mace from Varaha, rice grain from Bhudevi, fruit by Pushti, sugarcane from Kamadeva, noose from Gauri, blue lotus from Rati, and the tusk by Pushitpati.

The painting, made with the technique of gouache- mixing a white paste with watercolor to create an opaque effect on paper, depicts Ganesha in a royal palace, with a splendid arch, marked by the Sun and Moon, and flanked by fruiting banana trees, symbolizing auspiciousness and fecundity. The imposing figure of Mahaganapati has been placed in the center, with the three-eyed, regally adorned Ganesha infusing the space with a serene yet powerful aura. The ornamentation and attire of Ganapati has been beautifully detailed, and so is his divine countenance, which glows like the morning Sun.
