Description

Poetry and art can express beauty in a way no other means can. In poetry, the limit is bound within words but in art, the limit is not just visual, but explores the mental and spiritual depths.

The medium of oil helps in intensifying the beauty of the female form. In India, during the monsoons, there are numerous swings hanging from sturdy trees. Women sing and swing at the same time heralding a season of joy and celebration. This lady on the swing belongs to the above genre but is seen in isolation by the artist. The woman with attractive features looks ahead with dreams in her eyes. Her long tresses are thrown back by the breeze. Her well-endowed figure is elegantly covered with a saree attractive because of its simplicity. The colours used for it enhance its sobriety. Any other kind of ornaments, but the ones she wears, would have looked out of place. The flowing ends of the saree lend movement to the painting.

In sharp contrast, the background is completely static - the rocks, the sky and the tree, looking aesthetically beautiful. The technical dexterity that makes the protagonist stand out, is sadly lacking in the background.
