Standing on a Lotus pedestal is the Shakyamuni Buddha, with his right hand
in the vitarka mudra, the gesture of reasoning, argumentation, or
explanation of the teachings. His left hand is held in the varada mudra of
generosity or boon-granting.
This sculpture carved from a single block of wood is a South Indian temple wood carving.
