Preface

Bumo guying most, was first published in 1993 in Tibetan by the Author himself. Although hardly noticed, it contains a very powerful message that needs to be brought to the notice of our youngsters as well as to the parents and the educators. It is a reality that many of our youngsters tend to deviate from our value system as they grow and gain more exposure to the outside world. Growing number of school and college dropouts bear testimony to this trend. It is not all the children’s fault; we all are also responsible for this. Media and demonstrative effect of this modern world is taking our youngsters for a ride. Besides academic syllabus, we need to evoke and cultivate in our children the essentials of our social and moral values, so that a good girl like Yungtso (our generation) do not get confused in the middle and become degenerated. We can not afford this at this moment of our history. Parents and elders can remind their young ones of Yungtso’s story. It can be an ideal gift to the children. I sin- cerely hope that the story of Yungtso will serve as a rein and a reminder to all those youngsters galloping to the path of degeneration, and come into the fold of our society to serve our common cause.
