Kapala Kundala
In this Bengali classic Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay writes about Navakumar a city bred young man and his innocent bride Kapala Kundala a child of the forest wilds. Kapala Kundala finds her new life rather dull but little does she realize that danger and excitement await her at every turn. As jealousy and revenge play havoc a wicked plat is hatched to end her life.

Raj Singh
A Portrait seller tries to interest Chanchal Kumari, the princess of Roopnagar in a portrait of emperor Aurangazeb. She fings the Portrait on the floor and steps on it inviting her friends to do the some Aurangazeb hears of his insult and decides that the rebellious Princess must but inducted into his harem. Desperate to escape from this humiliation Chanchal Kumari ask Raj Singh Maharana of Mewar no save her.

This Amar Chitra Katha is adopted from the historical novel Raj Singh by Bankim Chandra Cattopadhyay. The novel is based on historical fact and the incidents involving the princes of Roopnagar are found in James Tod’s Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan Volume 1.

Devi Choudhurani
