E-governance and e-participation are the foundation of e-democracy. Government plays an important role in the development of the fair online social platform that has free and equal access by the citizens. It needs to incorporate and adopt strategies and technologies that will expand participatory democracy. E-governance can effectively focus on the principle of putting people first and thus, the government can strengthen bonds with its citizens by simplifying the delivery of services to the people. This will simultaneously lead to providing greater access to information, increased government accountability by making the system more transparent, promoting public dialogue to reduce corruption and allowing people to interact with policy and decision makers. There has been paradigm shifting in governance in the recent past with the increased use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), digital platforms, devices and modes of public services delivery in India. COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to adopt digital technologies and ICT loaded approaches and procedures in implementation of public policy and delivery of public services. Against this backdrop, a ICSSR sponsored two days national seminar on 'E-Governance and Delivery of Public Services in India: Emerging Issues Challenges and Way Forward' was organised by U. P. Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Prayagraj on 2-3 December 2022 with the purpose to discuss and deliberate the aspects, dimensions and approaches of e-governance and delivery of public services in India and to suggest policy measures for improving efficiency and effectiveness of governance and better implementation of public policy.
