Book Description
Preface
Of all the books that I have read in relation to Ram Jam bhumi dispute the aim of the Author is to pass a judgment. Nobody has tried to understand the issue on the basis of' History associated with it. Now since the highest court of our country has stated "It is thus concluded on the conclusion that faith and belief of Hindus since prior to construction of Mosque and subsequent thereto has always been. that janmaasthan of Lord Ram is the place where Babri Mosque has been constructed which faith and belief is proved by documentary and oral evidence discussed above." It is pointless to find out and prove "to whom the disputed land belonged" but a detailed study of History of Ayodhya with authentic facts and figure will give a new dimension to the opinion people have about the Ayodhya dispute. It is not fruitful to discuss the historicity of Rama and identity and antiquity of Ayodhya.

The question "Who built Babri Masjid" is as important as the question, why was Babri Masjid built. It is not just a temple of Ayodhya only that was destroyed but a number of temples throughout the country. Many of which were reclaimed, an example being the temple of Somnath in Gujarat. Destruction is something that the world might forget hut the construction of a magnificent structure becomes popular throughout the world and finds mention in Historic documents.

'111e dispute at Ramjanmbhoomi is not of past 100 or 200 years but of many years before that. Probably from the first time the temple was attacked to the re-starting of religious activities in the destroyed complex. The history of Ayodhya dispute is highly mysterious when compared to the history of destruction of Somnath, Mathura and Banaras. Syed Mohammad who was Khatib and Moazzin of the disputed mosque i.e. Babari Masjid in 1858 in his application has admitted "Kindly consider the fact that Masjid is a place of worship of the Muslims and not that of Hindus. Previously the symbol of Janamasthan had been there for hundreds of years and Hindus did Puja."

History of Ayodhya is incomplete without mention of the Bhar community. Local tradition states that for centuries Ayodhya was vileness. Universal tradition, too, assigns the whole district to the Bhars, a Hindu race who owned the greater part of Awadh, They dwelt in brick-built villages, traces of which are to be found in the shape of deserted mounds all over the district There is no legend regarding any particular capital of the Banaras, and it may be suggested that the country was under the sway of the Bar chieftain who resided at Kusbhawanpur, or Kusapura, the old name of Sultan pur.
