Book Description
Introduction

The Universal conciousness that holds the nature with all its entities in great reverence is notable from the available literature across the world. The Vedas, 'Atharva' in particular is a mine of knowledge on plant science, which is one of the world's oldest treatises.

The Hindu faith find its expresion in the Vedas to begin with, the continuity of which is observable in subsequent literature in the Itihasas, Puranic lore and Kavyas.

Among many sacred plants of India, "Tulasi" is distinctly placed and revered. The Puranic accounts show extended narratives about the plant which is a manifestation of purity, goodness and devotion. Lord Vishnu loves the plant, his worhsip never completes without the leaves of "Tulasi" We know for sure from our ayurvedic scriptures the many medicinal properties of "Tulasi". Our many expectorant medicines reveal its name in the list of ingredients.

This title is an attempt to show divinity, sacredness, and curable property attached to the Basil leaves and plant as a whole. The content of this book based on seminar proceedings I hope, will be of some interest to a keen reader.

I thank one and all for this nice effort.
