Book Description
About the Book
Passion for ancient art form, especially tribal art, their life & culture of different provinces of India always accompanied him as splash and swish of oars accompany the boat man, has been holding his hand like an affectionate father and guided him to places to see and collect or take photographs of naive creations. Not being a student of art or art history, not having any formal training in social or cultural anthropology he had to roam around the periphery of the subject with a desire to penetrate to the core. His passion accompanied by tireless and incessant efforts took shape of a book named 'A JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY IN SEARCH OF A COMMON ROOT'. For the first time Sri Pallab Mukhopadhyay has given us the unique comparison of the different art forms, folk lore, philosophy and culture etc of various tribal groups of the world in a beautiful chronological manner. This is a unique endeavor for an art lover in a true sense of aesthetics. Sri Pallab K. Mukhopadhyay, the author of this book delves deep into those genetic studies. Also, he focuses on what is known as cultural anthropology.

Introduction
Sri. Pallab Kumar Mukhopadhyay when over telephone approached me to write the preface of his book "A Journey through History: In search of a common Root", I became very glad. But after going through the book I found it is very difficult to do the same. He tried to understand 'discerningly stunning similarities' in Belief, Religion, Life Style, Folk Tales and Lore, Art and Art Motive and Architecture in its multifarious forms and Genetic Code of major tribes of different parts of the globe definitely suggest there must be a common stalk of origin and ancestry, from where different groups dispersed for various reasons, possibly through oceanic transmigration. Sri Mukhopadhyay aptly imagined that oceanic transmigration led to series of conflicts and blood sheds between early settlers and new comers. He further proposed, "admixture, absorption, adsorption and assimilation of beliefs, rites and traditions of different migratory groups and races of different parts of the globe started giving a shape of new culture breaking all barriers unnoticed, which paced through continuous changes".
