Book Description
Publisher's Note

This work, Sri RADHA SUDHA NIDHI STOTRAM is a composition which is considered as a religious hymn by a large section of Vaishnavas and composed by a well-known Acharya, the founder of the Radhavallabha Sampradaya.

Quite a number of Sri Radha Sudha Nidhi Stotram contain description of romance of Radha and Krishna. While going through these slokas educated people raise doubts as to how these can help the spiritual uplift of man. These doubts can be removed easily if we try to understand the basic idea the composer had in mind.

The main feature of the composer's viewpoint is the fact that he considered the bodies of the divine couple of Radha and Krishna, whose amouous play is described in this book , to be built of pure bliss and transcendental love. The greatest splendour of beauty and love is concentrated in their forms. Thus they have divine bodies different from that of the mortals. In this way their love is divine. So there cannot be any comparison of this supernatural love with human way of life or thinking. One must keep in mind this obvious fact in reading the verses of Sri Radha Sudha Nidhi Stotram.

The latter part of Saundarya Lahari by Acharya Sankara contains a number of Shringaric verses. The last part of Brihadaranyaka Upanishad described Srimantha and Putramantha with minute erotic descriptions but as Sankara points out, this is to be read in its proper religious sense.

It is in this spirit that the Bhavan is offering Sri Radha Sudha Nidhi Stotram and hope that the readers will imbibe some of the highly emotional sentiment expressed by the great Acharya in his verses sung I glory of the divine couple of Radha and Krishna.

About the Author

He was born in the year 1559 in a well to do family of Deoband, Distt, Saharanpur. His father was Shri Vyas Misra and his mother was Tara Rani.

Shri Vyas Misra was court astrologer and he accompanied the Emperor Sikandar Lodi when he was on tour.

Due to the blessings of Misra's brother a son was born to him fulfilling his long desire. In blessing Tara Rani, the sanyasi prophesied that her son would be an extraordinary devotee and would establish a new system of Prema Bhakti.

During one of his visits to Agra accompanying the Emperor, Shri Misra took his wife as she was pregnant and was excepting delivery. One the way Tara Rani developed labour pains and delivered a boy near Baad village on Monday which happened to be Ekadasi of Vaishakh.

Shri Misra came back to Deoband along with his family and Shri Hitharivansh Soswami spent 30 years in Deoband. He was married to Rukmani and had four sons and a daughter.

Shri Goswami Poorna-Bhakti towards Shri Radha was such that between Shri Radha and Sri Krishna he gave the prime place to Shri Radha. This Sampradaya founded by Shri Goswami has been so eloquently described in Bhktamala composed by Nabha ji. In his commentary comprising 16,000 verses Shri Hari Lal Vya opens it with a verse in salutation to Shri Hitharivansh, as the uploder of the supremacy of Shri Radha and who holds Shri Radha as his particularly worshipped deity, who is his Guru and who is his sole mantra.
