Marriage is a major social issue in India. Every parent is concerned about the marriage of his children. When the child in question happens to be a daughter it is a matter of even greater concern and anxiety. So a question with which the astrologers are constantly being confronted is the one regarding marriage. However despite the insight provided by innumerable classical texts the precise timing for marriages has always been posing a problem.
Hypothesis: First take the slowest moving planet which is Shani (Saturn). In Vedic literature the world is derived from the Sanskrit word Shanai Charai meaning one that moves slowly. Another name given to Saturn is Kala meaning the time. So Saturn is the first timer which must establish contact with the first house or the lord of the 7th house (the partner i.e. wife or husband) simultaneously either by aspect or by position. This will indicate a broad time of union between the two.
Secondly timing has to be done through the transit of Jupiter – the Deva Guru Unless Jupiter bestows his blessings on the first and seventh houses or their lords by aspect or by transit over them (in the same way as in the case of Saturn), without which the sacred ceremony of marriage (according to Vedic rites) will not be performed.
For further narrowing down the timing of marriage to few months the faster moving planets were also taken into account and same transit principles applied.
To collect the correct data we took the help of our astrologer friends. As soon as the data was ready we analyzed horoscopes to test the principles and to our amazement we found the results touching a very high percentage of accuracy. The excitement grew when the other astrologer friends also tried our principles for giving predictions and reported their satisfaction on our research. We tested our principles on the horoscopes given in the articles of learned astrologers in the past issues of Astrological Magazine and found hundred percent correct results.
Since 1987 when we started astrology classes at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan New Delhi these principles were taught with practical demonstrations to Jyotisha Visharada students and the technique was applied by the research students of astrology successfully. Batch after batch the students have been taught and they have been applying this technique for timing of marriage. Not a single student reported any case of failure. It is therefore not a boast but a claim that a major statistical replicable research in astrology is for the first time being published.
We are grateful to our team mates Shri M.N. Kedar Dr. (Mrs.) Lalita Gupta, Mr. S.N. Kapoor and Mr. J.N. Sharma who have equally contributed to this great research on timing of marriage (given upto chapter 4) and have consented to make available this research in the shape of a book for the lovers of astrology.
