This book contains detailed description regarding history, philosophy and principles of homoeopathy. The book distinguishes homoeopathy from modern system of medicine. Prof Dr Anton Jayasuriya has worked diligently for the past 32 years as a Senior Consultant in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation in the Department of Health, Sri Lanka. He is also a Senior Acupuncturist in Sri Lanka. He is best known world-wide as the Chairman of Medicina Alternativa, and as the renowned author on such subjects as: Neurophysiology, Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Acupuncture Anesthesia.

It gives me great pleasure to contribute a foreword to yet another book from the versatile pen of Prof. Dr. Anton Jayasuriya, who has worked diligently for the past 32 years as a Senior Consultant in Rheumatology and Rehabilitation in the Department of Health, Sri Lanka. He is also a Senior Acupuncturist in Sri Lanka. However, he is best known world-wide as : the Chairman of Medicina Alternativa, and as the renowned author on such subjects as: Neurophysiology, Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Acupuncture Anesthesia. As in his previous books, this publication exhibits a rare clarity of thinking and a precise and eclectic approach in explaining the complicated nuances of the difficult subject of Homoeopathy. Dr. Jayasuriya has treated over a million patients free at his clinic at the Colombo South General Hospital over the past 32 years. His indeed, is a mature experience which he passes on to his colleagues and students through his books, seminars and regular monthly teaching courses.

The books of Dr. Jayasuriya are read in every latitude of. the world, and have been translated into many esoteric languages, including Russian, Spanish, Korean, Nepalese, Hindi, Danish, German, Singhalese, Tamil and Japanese. I am sure that this publication will also meet with equal world-wide success.

The homoeopathic system of medicine, which has flourished for well over a century and half, is fast becoming popular in Sri Lanka, with full recognition given by the Sri Lankan Government to this mode of therapy. This book will undoubtedly be a boon to all Homoeopathic students and practitioners and will help them to grasp precisely the intricate concepts of this useful therapeutic system, and also help them to pass the government qualifying examinations conducted under the aegis of the W.H.O.

No race, religion or institution, or for that matter no discipline, enjoys the exclusive possession of all knowledge. The truth is so vast and comprehensive, that any one individual or system can have only a partial glimpse of it. In this spirit, I believe we must continue our research into all forms of medicine and other related human activities. All medicines have been made by man; and man himself is imperfect. Therefore, without doubt, all medicines are imperfect. The integration of both the new and old healing methods is long overdue.

The dichotomies of different healing methods and their opposing doctrines are the greatest danger to the health of mankind, today. All medicines suffer from a severe credibility gap, in that there cannot logically exist so many different specific methodologies for one and the same disorder. The introduction of Homoeopuncture with medicated needles is, therefore, a historic step in the correct direction of integrating the healing modalities. The results appear to be overwhelming.

There is much progress taking place world-wide in the realm of complementary medicine today, and Dr. Jayasuriya has made many significant contributions. I am honoured to recommend and introduce this timely and useful classic which, I am sure, will become a new Organon.
