Mughal Flower
Kailash Raj captures an extravagant yet contemporary art as he defines a Mughal flower with his expert brush strokes. Mughal art has originated mainly from floral designs and motifs which helped the artists back then to develop their handiwork into what wonders we see to date. With a lovely background, hued in a fabulous sky blue and Laguna yellow colors, the mesmerizing sky is enhanced with tweaking leafy shrubs that attract the spectators as they get entranced in its bewitching beauty.

The artist has elegantly painted an aesthetic floral boat orchid that is tinged watermelon pink and Olympic blue. The artwork enhances as it encapsulates blooming flowers and closed buds too. It beautifies the painting with the twirling stems that extend over the place, curling over with each turn. Originating from deep undulating leaves, the plant lengthens to reveal different kinds of skinny leaves that are amazingly depicted in a dark green and olive colored blend.

To further define this ancient mystique, Kailash Raj illustrates a white butterfly which hovers over the fantabulous plants as it reveals its eye-like designed wings with each stroke. The superb painting is enclosed in a multilayered border that is tinted golden and black, etched with lavender purple and yellowish golden floral motifs. This painting is the perfect match for all those who love a plethora of colors and are in search of an excellent artistic discovery, turning out to be the perfect match for your living room walls as it comes with an alluring frame like boundary.

The Splendour Of The Kalachakra Mandala
The Kalachakra Tantra (‘kala’ is Sanskrt for time; ‘chakra’, for cycle) expounded by Lord Buddha is a profound conception of the world as we know it. It comprises the outer, inner, and alternative Kalachakras. While the outer Kalachakra is the extrinsic locus of birth and death, the inner Kalachakra is the microcosm of sentience. The alternative Kalachakra pertains to the journey of Enlightenment/Buddhahood subject to the passage of kala.

The thangka that you see on this page is of the Kalachakra mandala. The majestic palace that you see on this page is a symbolic entity, a visualisation aid. It has four gates, each oriented to the four quarters of the world, and is protected by blue, scarlet, and gold discoids, each standing for a spiritual ideal that one must attain in order to access the riches offered by the Kalachakra palace. Zoom in on the splendour of the sprawling gates of the palace - note the perfect symmetry and attention to detail with which the same have been painted.

The importance of mandalas in Vajrayana Buddhism is in the fact that they are visualisation aids. Each of the five stories of the Kalachakra mandala palace leads the practitioner through the realms of body, expression, intellect, consciousness, and bliss to the resident Kalachakra deity. Practice empowers one to visualise and penetrate each and every corner of this all-important structure.

Chaturbhuja Shiva Granting Abhaya

The auspicious one and one of the principle deities of Hinduism is a major form within the Trimurti as ‘The Destroyer’. Mostly lord Shiva is depicted in a sitting posture in lalitasana or in meditation, but this one shown here is one of his rarely found postures, where he is standing and granting a boon of fearlessness to his devotees. Shiva is a representation of body with life and motion and realising this consciousness leads to ultimate bliss.

As shown here, Mahadeva is depicted as white, from the ashes of corpses smeared on his body and a smiling face in confidence of his success. He holds a kamandalu in the left hand and a soberly decorated damru and trishula respectively in the rear hands. Along with the other precious jewels and Rudraksha mala, he adorns the Vasuki naga (snake), coiled around his neck as an ornament symbolizing fearlessness and power and some other on his feet. This Chaturbhuja sculpture is carved out of a single piece of marble in absolute fineness of curves, expressions and the divine aura.

This short length tiger skinned dhoti wrapped around his waist is symbolic of the victory of the divine force over animal instincts; he carries the crescent moon on his head and river Ganga flows out from the top of the matted hair. This is not an ordinary Shiva sculpture, as the sculptor has played an amazing contrast of colors in golden, brown and the lines defined in red over the pure white surface. Not only this, zoom in to the face to admire the deep intensity and realism of his eyes and the beautiful Shaivite tilak along with third eye of wisdom on his forehead. Having this sculpture in your temple will enhance the charm and auspiciousness of the place.
