R.K. Srikanthan

R.K. Srikanthan hails for a family of famous musicians in Rudrapatna, Karnataka. His first guru was his father Rudrapatna Krishna Sastri. Later he learnt the intricacies of the art form his elder brother R K Venkararama Sastri a famous violist himself. A highly respected musician Srikanthan has performed in many parts of the country and abroad. He has held the rank of a top grade artiste whose singing is highly refined that delights the music lovers of carnatic music. Some of the awards conferred on him are Sangeetha, Kalanidhi, Gana Bhaskara the Central Natak Academy awards to name a few.

Aruna Sairam

Born in Mumbai (Maharshtra) in a family of musicians Aruna Sairam grew up in a musical atmosphere surrounded by the most famous names of carnatic and Hindustani music.

She has studied classical singing since childhood first with her mother then with the famous carnatic vocalist Shrimati Brinda.

She is popular for her renditions of Abhangs Devarnamas, Tamil songs and folk songs in various languages. Living in Mumbai a meeting point of Hindustani and Carnatic music she has developed her own style. She has been able to add to the fantastic rhythmical and melodic precision of Southern India music with the balance and the aesthetics of North Indian music.

She is an a grade artiste of AIR and Doordarshan and has won a number of awards. She is also well known abroad due to her ability to conduct excellent lecture demonstrations in the local language.

Nithyasree Mahadevan

Nithyashree Mahadevan is one of the most popular among the young musicians of South India today. She ahs a full throated style of singing which is the DKP hallmark which was followed by Lalitha Sivakumar, Nithyasree’s mother and DKP’s vocal accompanist.

Being the granddaughter of the famed Smt. D.K. Pattaml she was taught music by her mother Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar in addition to her grandfather. Considering that Nithyashree trained under her mother it is no surprise that she has the same
