About the CD
In Sanskrit, "Aa" means "towards", and "rati" means "the highest love for God". Thus, Aartis are the special prayers devoted to the God and Goddesses, performed and sung to develop the highest love towards them. Through these aartis we pray to the deities to bestow their blessings upon us. Sung in the melodious tunes during the Lord's worship, these aartis not only please the Lord but also create a divine environment that fills everyone's heart with spiritualism. An aarti is generally performed twice or three times daily - usually, in the morning and in the evening, and at the end of all ritualistic worship such as in the end of a Puja or a Bhajan session. These aartis are accompanied by the ringing of bells wherein lighted lamps with wicks soaked in ghee or camphor are of Thred to the deities. This concept is said to have descended from the Vedic concept of fire rituals or `homa'. The lighted lamp is held in the right hand and is waved in a circling motion that illuminates the deity while the prayers are being recited.
