Al Gromer Khan is a German born sitar master with eleven best selling albums to his credit, his unique style of performance, self-described as Paisley Music – traditional Indian melodies intertwined with electronic ambient keyboards has won him international acclaim.
Al Gromer Khan’s new CD contains 10 pieces of music that are at the same time futuristic and nostalgic, soft-techno and subtle, erotic and spiritual.
The theme is Tantra, the ancient shakti cult, that contains many secret exercises and dark rituals with erotic content.
Since the term Tantra has been obscured by therapists, prostitutes and pornographers, this music choose to deal with it in a modern and poetic way, keeping the original erotic and spiritual meaning alive.
I was concerned with learning the essential meaning of Tantra, so I could give it a new name, now that the future is here.
As far as the music is concerned, the pieces in the album that I am most proud of, are the ones where I interfered least with their own process of unfolding. They were the same piece that respected the sacred sphere of silence, making one aware of it at the same time. Intelligence does’t allow weakness, wisdom does. At least it allow for change.
The Paisley Music of Al Gromer Khan A new lifestyle, it is different, it is the future. It is elegant with the madness of the inner heart, each album has secret precious moments, once discovered, may look you forever, may move you to dance or move you to tears. It is at the same time ancient and modern seductive and trance inducing.
It is the time just after the crash and you’re happy just to be above to sit in thoughtfulness with a perfect cup of Tea. You have been happy for much longer than you thought.
