Krishna is seen here is the company of numerous cows. Dressed in his favourite yellow lower garment (pitamber), he wears numerous strings of pearls and an elaborate head gear. He stands in a frontal stance with his face in a profile as he looks lovingly towards a cow on his left. The cow is an important bovine to the Hindus. Cows provided them with milk, butter and yogurt. So the community in the Vedic age was really indebted to the cow in many ways. This later made them regard the cow with devotion and as time passed, cows were looked upon as a symbol of motherhood. Reiterating the above justification, Krishna loved to be amongst them. The way he holds the two cows close to him, need no words to describe the adoration between them.
The sun is setting in the background, giving the sky shades of orange and deep blue. Trees with delicate branches and leaves have a couple of birds perched on them. In the foreground is a lotus pond with a few birds in a playful mood and a peacock proudly strutting, showing off his beauty.
