Art and nature walk hand in hand assisting each other. With a wealth of birds around, we are never short of ornithological inspiration. Even in the times of Mughal emperors, Jahangir was the one, who showed obsessive interest in bird and animal portraits. Some of the most realistic and studied portraits of the same belong to his atellier.

On this small marble plate is an isolated figure of the hawk, perched on a jutting rock. It has a spectacular cloak of ermine feathers; one of the most beautiful plumages in nature. Well defined form of the bird and the high precision of inner details, including the ferocity in the eye and the sharpness of the preying beak, speak of artists keen perception. Not only the form, the colour palette is as close to nature as the artist could get.

The border of this enclosed bird is decorated with a golden vine of flowers and leaves giving the subdued painting a glittering effect.

This description by Renu Rana.

These unique artworks come along with a suitable gift box, and also a wooden stand - as shown in the accompanying image on the left.
