Colour is an important element of art but to say that art is captive of colour would be a misleading statement. This monochromatic art work proves that colour takes a back seat compared to line and form.

Bani-thani of the Kishangarh school is the inspiration behind this painting. The well endowed, curvaceous body is complemented by delicate limbs and facial features corresponding to those of Radha in Kishangarh paintings - the wide forehead, long straight nose, thin lips and a pointed chin. Her long tresses lasciviously invade her graceful body in waves and curls. Her body is beautified by the most exquisite ornaments. The artist has tried to counter the flatness with the help of shading which manages to provide volume. She sits in a classic pose accentuating the thin waist, the ample bosom and the broad hips. She attracts attention towards the finely shaped hands - the one with which she holds the edge of the odhini and the other which she lays down so gracefully.

If the viewer shifts attention from her, he would see that the architecture, which looks simple and the vegetation in the background are given equal importance regarding attention to minute details.

The artist of this painting is Shri Vinod Bhardwaj of New Delhi. Vinod's work is typically characterized by an absence of color, and he works with home made kajal obtained by burning mustard oil.
