Dance and painting have identical objectives of evoking a rasa and presenting bhava through the limbs of the human body. The relationship between painting and dance can be investigated on many levels through a variety of approaches but there certainly are interdependent patterns of performing and pictorial arts.

The dancer here is in ardhamandali and a pose which can be identified as the nupur-padika chari. She swings her hands from side to side while the movement of the lower limbs is quite static. She wears a short choli with a color coordinated tight pyjamas embroidered with floral motifs. A transparent skirt which opens in the front covers the pyjamas yet reveal the shapely curves of her body. A red odhini with golden edges cover the back of her head and the ends loosely hang around the shoulders. She looks beautiful in pearl strings hanging down her neck and an elaborate head ornament. Colorful glass bangles and stone studded gold anklets add to her beauty as much as her henna dyed hands and feet. Her features are round and soft with a straight nose and almond shaped eyes. The limbs are smooth and delicate.

The draughtmanship is sharp and clear and the painter has full control over line and color. The sureness of line with which the painter has been able to distinguish the features, the pose and the gestures reflect his deep perception of different movement patterns and facial features.

The background is plain with an impression of the sky with the help of colorful horizontal strokes and that of the ground with the aid of small tufts of grass.
