Kalamkari art is an ancient style of hand painting or block printing done on cotton or silk fabric with a tamarind pen using natural dyes. This style originated centuries ago when people wandered here and there narrating stories and later these stories started to be portrayed as Kalamkari art paintings, depicting motifs of flowers, peacocks, paisleys and divine characters from Mahabharat and Ramayana.
The painting shown here is painted in bright color combination of yellow, red and white flowers with the tree of life taking the centre position and the two peacocks enjoying their time on either side. A tree of life is an indication of growth, which started as a sapling and grows into a large and strong tree over a period of time. Its expansive outward growth represents how a person grows stronger physically and intellectually throughout his/her lifetime. Zoom in to applaud the painter’s creativity in depicting the colorful tree of life with white branches filled with white-red leaves and big yellow and red flowers.
Peacocks sitting on the big flowers are painted in the most beauteous manner having yellow colored feathers and long tail, along with a contrasting red body. This nature portraying painting is framed in a yellow and red flower border accentuating the mesmerized beauty of the painter’s creativity.
