Amongst India's most seductive depictions of romantic love are the tales of the rendezvous of Radha and Krishna, a profoundly ecstatic vision of erotic passion and spiritual union.

The moment is quiet, the mood infinitely tender, the togetherness of lover and beloved touching in its simplicity. Krishna holds his beloved in a tight embrace, with one hand on her shoulder and the other caressing her face. He wears an ochre dhoti and a red scarf hangs down his shoulder. He wears a fancy crown but the rest of the ornaments are quite simple. He wears a long garland of wild flowers. The face of Radha and Krishna in profile show sharp features and long eyes. Krishna's eyes boldly reflect longing while there is concealed desire in Radha's. She is shown mostly from the back, except for the face which turns alertly towards Krishna. In one hand she holds a lotus bud which she has brought as a gift for Krishna but unfortunately for him, this comes in the way of their lips meeting in union. She wears a red ghagra (skirt) and a green odhini that conceals her entire body.

The background is in various tones of brown which was perhaps not a very good idea because the crackle effect, the most important and attractive aspect of batik, gets diminished. The branch of a nearby tree spreads protectively above their heads. Vertically placed images of Radha and Krishna enrich the passion that pervade the atmosphere of the work.
