Folk art has always been influenced by Hindu mythology. The epics play a major role in shaping their religious and social role. Ramayana, with Rama, as the hero is popular as a guide to right living.

Ram is symbolic of a perfect husband and Sita of a perfect wife; Hanuman is an exemplary devotee in the service of his Lord, and the three of them together are role models for a pious life. Rama was a descendent of the Sun Clam, the Suryavanshi; hence the symbol of the sun on the throne. The modeling of the bodies and the facial features are typical of Orissa style-full bodies, face in profile and of course the ornaments have local traditional designs. A quiver of arrows can be seen behind Rama's shoulder as he holds one arrow from it. If Rama is a form of Vishnu, then as Sita, Lakshmi is his consort and thus, holds a lotus in one hand. A halo surrounds Rama's head, giving him an exclusive divine status. Holding Rama's foot with reverence is Hanuman, who has become the apotheosis of loyalty and selfless service. The mace, his attribute, lies next to him, forgotten as he sees nothing beyond Lord Rama.

Your books arrived in good order and I am very pleased.

Thank you very much for the Shri Yantra with Navaratna which has arrived here safely. I noticed that you seem to have had some difficulty in posting it so thank you...Posting anything these days is difficult because the ordinary postal services are either closed or functioning weakly.   I wish the best to Exotic India which is an excellent company...

Namaskar. I am writing to thank Exotic India Arts for shipping the books I had ordered in the past few months. As I had mentioned earlier, I was eagerly awaiting the 'Braj Sahityik Kosh' (3 volumes). I am happy to say that all the three volumes of it eventually arrived a couple of days ago in good condition. The delay is understandable in view of the COVID19 conditions and I want to thank you for procuring the books despite challenges. My best wishes for wellness for everyone in India,
