The scene is packed with descriptive details, both of the action and of the landscape. It involves agile movement and activity so much so that even the foliage does not look static. The prince and his queen test their skills on the swift animals, bows and arrows, their weapons of offence. True to their status they are attired in rich jewellery and clothes.
The horses appear seemingly well-bred by line and shape. What remains a mystery is what drove the artist to paint them the way he does! They disturb the colour order. The distressed animals are seen running helter-skelter for their lives. By mere positioning of their limbs, they are shown leaping, jumping or stumbling. Barely too scared to either hide in the bushes close by or skip away.
The background gives a sense of spaciousness what with the smooth gradient of the hills, a wide variety of foliage. Colour red is generously used to depict the energy and fervour of hunting.
