This painting depicts the energy centers of the human body. What seems to be between the feet is actually at the base of the spine. This is the Muladhara chakra, also called the Root centre. This forms the vital foundation for all higher chakras and is the source of the life force. Above this is the Svadhistana chakra, located above the genitals and is the centre for sexual energies and creativity. The third chakra from below is the Manipura chakra, also called the Solar Plexus chakra, located slightly above the naval and here is where we absorb the solar energy. Anahata chakra is located at the height of the heart is the of the entire chakra system. The fifth chakra is the Vishuddha chakra located near the throat. It is the link between the lower chakras and the crown centre. Ajna chakra is situated in the centre of the forehead and is the seat of our higher mental powers. The seventh chakra is often represented as havening above the head and is called the Sahassara chakra.
It is the seat of highest human perfection. The painting depicts the opening of the Crown chakra represented by the blossoming of the lotus emanating light forming a halo around the head of Shiva, whose third eye is also activated.
