The contribution of Bundi paintings to Indian art is unsurpassable. They have great charm - their color is pure and delicate and the line is firm and unswerving in its flow. The artists were great masters and painted with confidence.

Here, the nayika, full of hope and expectation ventures to the edge of the forest, accompanied by a friend. She is so lost in thoughts of her lover that she overlooks a thorn bush that pierces the delicate sole of her feet. The friend faithfully kneels down to extract the evil thorn that has dared to delay their journey. Both the figures are represented in profile. Stylistically speaking, the upper part of the body is generally shorter than the lower part. The long red peshvas is fastened at the high seam, just below her bosom and a blue odhini covers her head. Underneath the peshvas, she wears green pyjamas which show under the outer garment. Both the women have small round faces with pronounced shading on the cheeks and near the eyes and nose to give modeling effects. They are wearing strings of pearls in their necks and on their foreheads, as well as earrings and lots of bangles. The nayika holds flower buds in each hand. A pair of birds is shown on a banana plantain. A pair also hovers over her head.

Landscape seems to be an essential part of the composition. The artist has captured the flora with dexterity and the arrangement of trees and the thick luxuriant garden in the miniature are quite natural and appreciable and have been delineated beautifully. Creepers with delicate leaves are shown entwined with the tree. Line has a special significance in the field of art and the artist has rightly caught the movement and expression of lines as can be seen here.
