12" Goddess Kali Standing on Lord Shiva | Madhuchista Vidhana (Lost-Wax) | Panchaloha Bronze from Swamimalai

$1345

Mahakali- the dashabhuja or ten-armed Hindu goddess is depicted in a divinely dramatic composition of this bronze statue.

The statue sculpted in a rounded manner shows the tresses of Mahakali flowing beautifully on the reverse, adorned by the Siraschakra aura and the crescent moon.

Ornamented by the severed limbs of demons, Mahakali raises her ten arms around her, her tongue lolling, eyes widening, and nose flaring with pure wrath.

Adding to the dynamism of the Panchaloha composition is the raised leg of Mahakali, about to touch the heart of Shiva, whose stillness beautifully contrasts with the dramatic appearance of the goddess.

The sacred vision is elevated on a lotus pedestal, with a stylistically bloomed lotus, as the artist’s eternal offering in the feet of Mahakali.

Deity of Transformation and Empowerment

Behold the fierce and compassionate embodiment of divine power in this handcrafted bronze statue of Goddess Kali. Known as the destroyer of evil forces, Kali is revered as the ultimate protector and the liberator of souls. She is the transformative energy that dissolves the old and makes way for the new, a force both terrifying and deeply nurturing. This striking depiction of Kali captures her iconic imagery. Her dark complexion represents the unfathomable depths of the cosmos, beyond the reach of human comprehension. She is adorned with a garland of severed heads, symbolizing the triumph over ego and the cycle of birth and death. Her multiple arms wield weapons that represent her power to vanquish negativity, while others offer blessings and protection to her devotees.

The Dance of Dissolution: Kali and Shiva

This statue portrays Kali standing upon the serene figure of Lord Shiva. This powerful iconography is steeped in symbolism. In many accounts, Kali’s destructive dance threatened to destroy the universe, and Shiva lay down beneath her feet to absorb the force of her cosmic rage. This act not only pacified Kali, but also served as a reminder that even in destruction, there is a stabilizing force, a divine balance maintained by Shiva's quiet strength. This representation isn’t one of subjugation, but of complementary energies—Shiva's stillness empowers Kali's dynamic action, and Kali's energy animates Shiva's divine consciousness. Together, they represent the inseparable forces that govern the universe.

Artisanal Excellence from Swamimalai

Crafted using the traditional "Madhuchista Vidhana," or lost-wax casting technique, this statue is a testament to the enduring skill of artisans from Swamimalai, a town in Tamil Nadu renowned for its bronze sculptures. The "Panchaloha" bronze, a sacred alloy of five metals - gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron - lends the statue a rich, lustrous finish and spiritual significance. Each detail, from the intricate facial features to the carefully rendered weapons, is a product of meticulous craftsmanship, passed down through generations. This method ensures that each statue is a unique masterpiece, bearing the distinct mark of its creator's artistry.

Dimensions and Care

Perfect for your altar, meditation space, or as a powerful statement piece in your home, this bronze statue exudes spiritual energy and artistic beauty. Its dimensions of 11.0 x 8.0 x 4.0 inches make it a substantial yet manageable piece. To maintain its luster, gently dust with a soft cloth and avoid exposure to harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures.
