16" Standing Ten Armed Panchamukha Lord Ganesha Bronze Statue

$1927

The Panchamukha roopa of the Hindu lord of auspiciousness and bliss symbolizes his reign over five kosha or layers that make the human form.

These Kosha are- Annamaya kosha (material body), Manomaya kosha (mental form), Vighnamaya kosha (higher consciousness), and Anandamaya kosha (cosmic bliss).

In this Dashabhuja (ten-armed) statue, Ganesha represents the image of heavenliness.

Holding powerful weapons that form an aureole around his plump and majestic form, Ganesha is adorned by his characteristic ornaments, standing on a two-tiered lotus pedestal.

In his feet appears Mushaka-raja, gazing in awe at his Lord, with joined hands that bring a devotional appeal to this splendid bronze.

The Remover of Obstacles

Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is one of the most beloved and recognizable figures in the Hindu pantheon. He is revered as the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. Above all, he is known as the Vighnaharta – the remover of obstacles. Before any new venture, religious ceremony, or undertaking, devotees offer prayers to Ganesha, seeking his blessings for a smooth and successful beginning. He is also considered the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.

The Symbolism of Panchamukha

This statue beautifully depicts Ganesha in his Panchamukha form, meaning five-faced. Each face represents one of the five koshas or sheaths of the human being: Annamaya Kosha (the food sheath), Pranamaya Kosha (the energy sheath), Manomaya Kosha (the mental sheath), Vijnanamaya Kosha (the wisdom sheath), and Anandamaya Kosha (the bliss sheath). By meditating on the Panchamukha Ganesha, devotees aim to purify and harmonize these sheaths, leading to spiritual growth and self-realization. The five faces also symbolize the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether, which are the building blocks of the universe.

A Multitude of Blessings

The ten arms of this Ganesha further amplify his divine power. Each hand holds a symbolic object, each representing a specific aspect of his blessings and abilities. While the exact objects can vary, common representations include: a modak (sweet dumpling) symbolizing reward for spiritual seeking, a rosary for prayer and meditation, an axe to cut through obstacles, a lotus for enlightenment, a conch shell for auspiciousness, and his own broken tusk, representing sacrifice and wisdom. He may also hold a noose, to capture ignorance, and a goad, to prod one towards the right path. The multiple arms demonstrate his ability to simultaneously attend to the needs of his devotees and grant them protection, prosperity, and spiritual growth.

Crafted in Bronze

This captivating depiction of Lord Ganesha has been crafted in bronze. Bronze, a strong and enduring alloy, has been used for centuries in sacred art, allowing the intricate details of the deity's form to be preserved for generations. The warm, rich tone of the metal adds a touch of elegance and reverence to the statue. This carefully crafted murti is more than just an object of art; it is a powerful symbol of faith and a tangible representation of divine blessings. Dimensions: 16.0 x 10.7 x 6.7 inch
