Uma-Maheshwara murti, the iconic image of Shiva and Parvati, is an ancient motif of auspiciousness and divinity in Hindu tradition. In Shaiva shrines, this image is the representation of the union of Shiva and Shakti, or Purusha and Prakriti, the supreme male and female principles. This splendid wooden statue presents the aura of Uma-Maheshwara in the traditional iconography, with Shiva seated on his bull mount, carrying Uma in his lap.

Shiva wears a long Jatamukuta (crown of tresses), jewelry and tiger hide lower body garment, and is in his Pashupati form, while Uma accompanies him as Shivakami or Shivakamasundari, exuding feminine allure, holding a lotus flower in her hand. A stunning Kirtimukha or face of glory on the uppermost part of the composition brings grandeur to the statue as a symbol of the Kirti or glory of Uma-Maheshwara.
