An earthly apsara. Standing with her feet cradling in the belly of a lotus bloom. Touching up her eyes with a blunt cosmetic instrument, held precariously betwixt the thumb and forefinger of the right hand. Chunky karnakundalas that graze the zenith of her clavicles, naked but for the neckpiece layered across her decolletage.
In that gossamer dhoti of green silk, her hips jut out seductively sidewards. Hair gathered in a high bun on top of her head. On a youthful countenance, a joyous composure. The necklace squeezed between the fecund orbs on her torso, almost touching a deep-set navel. Limbs so shapely and lifelike, it is almost as if they would break into visible motion any second now.
This wood-carved apsara is a contemporary reproduction of the temple wall art of South India. Limited but eloquent colour palette. Lotus petals forming a sort of frame around the voluptuous figure. A longline structure with rounded corners.
