A lovely young Muria woman found her way into a craftsperson’s inspiration. She emerged as a remarkable papier mache doll, as lifelike as handmade dolls could get. She is fair in a wheatish way and pleasantly plump as is appreciated in the central highlands where the Muria are from. Clearly, she is at the peak of her youth and beauty, days away from her wedding to a young Muria guy of her choice.

She is wearing a solid white inward pleated saree with an unassuming pastel border. She has draped it high against her beautiful legs, to make it more comfortable working in the fields. The pallu, as is the norm with the saree, leaves a shoulder and arm exposed, revealing a milky, minimally tattooed complexion. The chunky silver jewellery that could be spotted at her nose, neck, wrist, and ankles are an example of Indian tribal expression.

Her soft-featured face bears a composure of warmth and equanimity. On her brow sits a headdress made from beads and locally procured petals, which dangles to one side of her wide-set face. Drooping eyes, a wide nose, and a peachy mouth that seems to be always smiling. The jet balck of her hair matches the colour of her eyes and makes for a striking contrast against her roseate skin.
