Blue-Jewel Bomkai Sari from Orissa with Hand-Woven Folk Motifs and Temple Border

$495
The crown jewel of Eastern Deccan silks, each Bomkai saree is a piece of folk art. So-called because these silken works are woven on the endemic looms of Bomkai village in Orissa for upper-caste ladies to attend weddings and rituals in, each of these conform to a high standard of aesthetic appeal. Note the shimmer of the pure foundation silk and the minimalist booties spaced out on the gleaming blue. While the templetops and layered zari on the border are highly characteristic of these endemic silks, the folk motifs luxuriantly dominating the pallu make this number a one-of-a-kind Bomkai produce.
