Pashmina wool is obtained from the fleece of a rare goat, the Changthangi goat which is found in Ladakh. The shawls and scarves fashioned out of it are famous for their richly soft texture that feels very gentle on the skin. With its discovery dating back to the Mughal era, Pashmina is sheer magic spun into fibers and fabrics in the looms of Kashmir.

To add to the beauty of this already breathtaking pure Pashmina shawl, Sozni embroidery has been done on it. A technique of needle point embroidery that has its roots in the valley of Kashmir, Sozni is a 500-year-old artform that continues to adorn many Pashmina accessories.

The same is done here on this piece. In a jalidar pattern, intricate floral vines are embroidered all over the shawl. Bright colours like red and coral are used for the fine embroidery. The tan color of the base gives a very earthy look to the entire piece and adds warmth to it, something that is much desired in the harsh winters.

A lot of attention has been given to detailing by the artisans and that makes the shawl look very graceful. From the colours to the designs, everything about this piece speaks of sophistication and femininity.
