Jyotirindranath Tagore, the elder brother of Rabindranath is seldom discussed now-a-days in academic and artists' circles even though his versatile genius left glorious marks in various fields of art and literature. A noted translator, essayist, musicologist and painter, this son of the Maharshi of Jorasanko deserves all- out serious study. It is a pity that a great number of sketches drawn by him are yet to see the light of the day. Rabindrabharati University takes pride in re- publishing Twenty-Five Collotypes by this great master as a tribute to his genius. We are thankful to Professor Swapan Majumdar, a veteran Tagore scholar and litterateur, who has rendered valuable service to the cause of art and culture by way of authoring a comprehensive note on these collotypes for the present publication. Let all such works of Jyotirindranath be brought out to the benefit of connoisseurs.
