Reading Smt Vijaya Kumari's book Anyatha Saranam Nasthi, an intensely devotional tribute to the God Incarnate of the Milliminium, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, has been, for me, a soul-stirring experience. Each intimate glimpse into the early life of Bhagawan, each detail about Swami's boundless love for His devotees, each description of Swami's incredible manifestations, be it the materialization of things such as vibhuthi, to gold and diamond ornaments, to artifacts and to idols of Gods, or His mastery of clairvoyance, clairaudience, teleport, and so on - all these are used by the author to underscore Swami's infinite compassion for mankind, and His tireless efforts to create a New World Order based on Truth, Goodness, Peace and Love.
This is the Sai Era. All are now turning to Swami, because His Gospel of 'Sadhana through Service' is the vital need of the hour and the only sure remedy to achieve stable peace in one's mind, in one's family, in the society around and in the world at large.
The task of translating this book is undertaken by me in order to share with everyone, the overwhelming presence of Swami that I experienced while reading it and the zestful fillup it gave to my own faith in Sai's sacred Lotus Feet, guiding us all to a Heaven of Peace across the mechanical, tension ridden, turbulent waters of modern life. I bow down to Swami for enabling me, through the excuse of this translation, to 'fill' my time dwelling on Him and His love for mankind, rather than 'kill' my time in some wasteful gossip.
I congratulate Smt Vijaya Kumari for illuminating thousands of yearning hearts like mine with her lamps of letters, her wonderful book. I extend greatful thanks to all the Sai brothers, like Prof Nanjundaiah, Sri Sri Ram and Sai sisters Miss R Sita Lakshmi and Smt Vijaya Kumari, for their kind moral support. My particular thanks are due to members of the local Sai Samathi, like Prof C Bhaskar Sharma, Prof CV Nageswara Sastry and Sridhar, for the help rendered in getting part of the draft typed. I am beholden to my mother and my daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren for their warm wishes. I acknowledge, with gratitude for their warm wishes. I acknowledge, the unstinted help of my husband, Prof T Ramesh Dutta, without whose wholehearted co-operation I could never have completed my translational venture to be placed as an offering at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, our Beloved Swami, with the sincere submission, Anyatha Saranam Nasthi Other Than You, Refuge There Is None.
