Lord Shiva is a dominant deity in Bronze Sculptures. Many profound concepts are integrated into the mythology of Siva and Sculpture. He is seen in a whole spectrum of moods from the most serenely domesticated to the most profoundly symbolical.
A Dakshinamurti, he is the great teacher, not only of music and dance but of spiritual truth too. In other statues, he wanders like a mendicant, mounted on his bull or foot with his Bhoota-Gana, while the Gods dwell in the affluent and luxurious heaven.
As a wanderer, he can also be seen relaxing with his elbow and forearm resting on his bull-mount, Nandi. The bull is not there in the composition, but the stance with all tautness allowed by the support to flow out of the frame vividly evokes its presence.
The representation of Shiva in the company of Parvati is also one of the finest. Numerous bronzes present him in a contentedly domestic mood, with his consort and children. His most celestial form can be said to be the figure of Nataraja.
The Ardhanarisvara, Muneeswara, Bhairava are some other forms of Lord Shiva depicted through exquisite bronze sculptures.
These bronze statues thoughtfully curated by Exotic India tries to recover the iconic quality, the power to stir the religious instincts of awe and adoration among the devotees.
