About the Book

At first glance, As I Think is a collection of essays penned by Swami Chinmayananda that elaborates on seemingly varied topics such as spirituality, culture, religion, secularism, ethics, and yet has nation building as its inherent theme.

On a closer look, As I Think divulges an intimate understanding of the vision and actions of the renowned patriotic saint, Swami Chinmayananda, who touched, transformed & inspired millions of lives. As I Think reveals the seed-thought that has led to the mighty Chinmaya Movement.

As I Think reiterates that the journey from mediocre to marvellous is a journey in thinking, beginning with just one powerful seed-thought.

About the Author

Swami Chinmayananda Hailed as the second Swami Vivekananda, Pūjya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda (1916-1993) has left a great legacy behind for mankind. On realising the true purpose of life, he worked tirelessly and with tremendous energy for more than four decades to spread the message of Vedānta. A great orator, writer, leader, patriot and spiritual giant, he is one of the finest representatives of Indian spiritual heritage. The sprawling worldwide organisation of Chinmaya Mission carries on the torch lit by this great saint.

Preface

Articles in this book were penned by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda during 1958-1961 in the form of editorials for the magazine Usha, a monthly publication of Chinmaya Mission, which was later absorbed into the main magazine Tapovan Prasad. These articles hold a special place in Chinmaya literature, because they are among the few pieces personally written by him, while most of the other books were transcribed from his talks. The intensity of a mighty vision shines through the writings, aiming at the transformation of the individual, leading to a change in the texture of national life.

In this revised edition, diacritical marks have been used for transliteration of Sanskrit words in the commentary. This will help readers to identify and pronounce the words correctly.

A key to the transliteration and pronunciation has been added in the book.
