Education plays a vital role in the shaping of personality. That is why Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba lays great importance in the education of students and has established these citadels of learning in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh for girls in July 1968, in Brindavan, Whitefield, Bengaluru for boys in 1969 and in Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh for boys in 1981.
Bhagawan has emphatically declared that His entire property consists of His students. And naturally, therefore, the Revered Chancellor, in each of His Discourses, emphasises on the students the need to live a life based on purity of heart, love and compassion for the entire mankind. He wishes that when they go out of the portals of this esteemed institute, they should behave as responsible citizens of this land and also involve themselves in the service of society. At the Annual Convocation of the Institute held on November 22 each year, it is the unique privilege of the students to be blessed with Benedictory Address delivered by their Revered Chancellor. The present revised edition, with discourses up-to-date, gives the Benedictory Addresses from the year 1982 to 2010 including the Inaugural Discourse on November 22, 1981.
