The first chapter of the research work titled "A Retrospective Study: ABO and Rh (D) Phenotype Blood Group Distribution among the Chakma of Tripura, India" by Murali Kotal, Pinuma Baruah, Yikham Gogoi, Gin Khan Khaul, and Thonnibou Zelian introduces the background and significance of studying blood group distribution in tribal populations. It highlights the importance of understanding ABO and Rh (D) phenotypes as genetic markers that provide insights into population diversity, disease susceptibility, and transfusion compatibility. The chapter sets the context by outlining the socio-cultural and demographic profile of the Chakma community and underscores the need for such population-specific biomedical studies.
The second chapter, titled "The Influence of Traditional Institution, on Meghalaya's Political Landscape" by Tillutoma Baruah, explores the enduring role of indigenous governance systems in shaping the modern political framework of Meghalaya. The chapter delves into the structures and functions of traditional institutions such as the Dorbar Shnong and Dorbar Hima, highlighting their impact on grassroots democracy, conflict resolution, and local administration. It also examines the interaction between customary authority and state politics, reflecting on how these institutions adapt to contemporary political processes. The study underscores the significance of traditional governance in maintaining socio-political stability and cultural identity in Meghalaya.
The third chapter, titled "Empowering Missing Children: A Holistic Approach to Prevention and Recovery" by Sukriti Chowdhary Kapoor and Ritika Chowdhary, addresses the critical issue of child disappearance through a comprehensive and multi-dimensional lens. The authors emphasize the need for coordinated efforts involving law enforcement, social services, communities, and families to prevent abductions and ensure the safe recovery of missing children. The chapter explores root causes such as trafficking, poverty, and displacement, and advocates for child-centric policies, rehabilitation support, and public awareness. The fourth chapter, titled "Exploring the Causes and Effects of Teenage Pregnancy among Adolescents in Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya" by Tejoswita Gogoi and Ibadondor Nongsiej, investigates the socio-cultural, economic, and educational factors contributing to teenage pregnancy in a rural tribal setting. Drawing on field data and community insights, the authors examine how limited access to reproductive health education, early marriage, poverty, and peer pressure influence adolescent pregnancies. The chapter also highlights the long-term consequences, including school dropouts, health risks, and social stigma faced by young mothers.
