The lives of all species, environment, man and society have been in center of the religious concern. The main focus of the Dharma has been on the human being because he is the most genius creature on the earth. He can understand the true meaning of the life. Of course he has made the tremendous development in the field of science and spirituality. Along with his development in both the fields, his excessive greed to exploit the nature has created havoc on the earth. This is the combined duty of all to control the over exploitation of the natural resources and to fix limit of the consumption of the consumables.
The common social problems have been raised in this book and solutions in particular from Jain religion and in general from different Indian religions have been given. Some papers are based on studies of Jain history and culture, epistemology, metaphysics, ethics and some on current issues. The book comprises nineteen papers on different topics.
As jain religious history depicts that jain religion is one of the oldest religion in India. This religion comprises very good thoughts like five vows, karmavāda, Anekāntavāda etc. All Indian religions have noticed importance of five vows such as non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy and non-acquisitiveness. Yoga darśan of Patanjali says them as yama, Bauddha darśan says them as sila. As for worldly life is concerned these are primary ethical values, necessary to be practiced by all. Spiritual life also starts with the practice of these vows.
